On August 26, the Paldiski Entrepreneurs’ Association<\/span><\/a>\u00a0will organize\u00a0a smart industry investment conference “Paldiski builds the future”, which will bring together entrepreneurs, top managers and experts. The conference, which will take place in Paldiski, will focus on how smart solutions in industry can help strengthen the Estonian economy and make the country a more attractive investment environment.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The annual investment conference \u201cA Different Paldiski\u201d, organized in cooperation with the Paldiski Entrepreneurs’ Association and its members \u2013\u00a0<\/span>L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Harju Municipality<\/span><\/a>\u00a0,\u00a0<\/span>Port of Tallinn<\/span><\/a>\u00a0,\u00a0<\/span>Alexela<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Enefit Green,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is taking place for the eighth time. This year, the focus will be on the role that smart industry can play in the development of the Estonian economy. The conference, titled \u201cPaldiski is Building the Future\u201d, will bring together entrepreneurs, top managers and experts to discuss regulations, energy choices and the investment environment, and to offer visions of how industry could become a driver of Estonian competitiveness and sustainable growth.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The conference will be opened by the Speaker of the Riigikogu,\u00a0<\/span>Lauri Hussar.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The first part of the conference will address the prerequisites for an industrial growth environment: European Commission representative\u00a0<\/span>Thor-Sten Vertmann<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will provide an overview of energy policy directions and the choices facing Estonia, while EIS representative\u00a0<\/span>Villem Vohu<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will talk about the prospects for energy-intensive industry. The topic will be concluded by a panel discussion, where\u00a0<\/span>Viljar Arakas<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>J\u00fcri Raidla<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Merle Kurvits<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will discuss the impact of regulations on Estonia’s business environment and competitiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The focus will then turn to the Pakri Peninsula and Paldiski as a potential smart industry hub. L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Harju Rural Municipality Mayor\u00a0<\/span>Jaanus Saat<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will introduce the region’s value proposition and lead a discussion, with Alexela major owner\u00a0<\/span>Heiti H\u00e4\u00e4l<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0, Port of Tallinn Board Chairman\u00a0<\/span>Valdo Kalm<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and EIS Board Chair\u00a0<\/span>Ursel Velve<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0taking part . Energiasalve co-founder and CEO\u00a0<\/span>Peep Siitam will introduce the role of the hydro storage facility being built in Paldiski in the future energy system of the Pakri region and the whole of Estonia. Ukrainian energy expert\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Serhii Nazarenko<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will also bring his perspective\u00a0, speaking about the importance of energy security and Ukraine’s experiences in protecting energy infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The final part of the conference day will look to the future: Swedbank Chief Economist\u00a0<\/span>T\u00f5nu Mertsina<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will share an analysis of the effects of the global economy on Estonian industry, and Port of Tallinn Board Member\u00a0<\/span>Rene P\u00e4rt<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will share practical experiences in attracting\u00a0<\/span>industrial investments<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to Estonia. The conference will conclude with a panel discussion \u201cHow will industry in Estonia return to growth?\u201d, featuring Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry\u00a0<\/span>Erkki Keldo<\/span><\/strong>, Enefit Green Board Chairman\u00a0<\/span>Juhan Aguraiuja<\/span><\/strong>, LHV Pank CEO\u00a0<\/span>Kadri Kiisel<\/span><\/strong>, and EIS Board Chairman\u00a0<\/span>Erkki Raasuke.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The annual conference “A Different Paldiski” is the only international investment conference outside Tallinn, providing an environment for the exchange of new ideas and strengthening cooperation networks. The conference will take place in Paldiski, at Pakri 7, in the conference tent on the square in front of the Sports Center, from 10 am to 5 pm.
