In 2025, nearly 14 million tons of cargo and more than 8 million passengers passed through the ports of the Port of Tallinn. Overall, the volume of cargo increased by +5% and the number of passengers by +1%. The total number of ship calls remained at the same level. The number of passengers between the Estonian mainland and the major islands increased by +1.2% and the number of vehicles by +3.5%. The number of charter days of the icebreaker Botnica decreased by -19%, the ship’s utilization rate was 49%.
In the fourth quarter, 3.6 million tons of cargo and 1.9 million passengers passed through the ports of the Port of Tallinn. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of cargo increased by +6% or by 191 thousand tons, mainly supported by liquid cargo and rolling stock, the number of passengers increased by +0.9% or by 17 thousand passengers due to the increase in the number of cruise passengers. The number of ship calls decreased by 4.8%. The number of vehicles transported between the Estonian mainland and the major islands was +7% and the number of passengers was 4.5% more than in the previous year. The number of charter days of the icebreaker Botnica decreased by -3.9% compared to the same period last year.
Valdo Kalm, Chairman of the Board of the Port of Tallinn, commented on the results: “In the fourth quarter, we saw an increase in the number of passengers and cargo volume for the third quarter in a row. I am pleased that in addition to liquid cargo, which carried an increase in cargo volume this year, the volume of rolling stock also increased, reaching the highest level in the last four years in the fourth quarter. The number of winter cruise visits that started again last year was even higher this year, which made a good contribution to the increase in the number of passengers. The total number of ship visits was slightly lower, but at the same time the ships that visited our ports were larger.”
“We can be satisfied with the results of the year in terms of operating volumes. The growth in cargo volume met our expectations and we continue to be positive about the recovery in the number of passengers, which is based, among other things, on the growth in cruise ship bookings in the coming years,” said Valdo Kalm.
