From August 1, 2026, tram line T2 will operate on the Kopli–Vanasadam–Lennujaam route, creating a convenient direct connection between the Port of Tallinn and the airport. The new connection will make the movement of both ship and air passengers in Tallinn easier, faster and more environmentally friendly.
Tram T2 stops at the Vanasadama stop in front of Terminal A in the Old City Harbour, approximately 100 meters from Terminal A and 450 meters from Terminal D. From there, you can travel directly to Tallinn Airport via the city center, bus station, and Ülemiste City without transferring.
“The direct connection to the airport is an important addition to the accessibility of the Old City Harbour. Millions of passengers pass through the port every year, and now both visitors arriving in Tallinn and, if they wish, local residents can travel between the ship and the airplane comfortably, affordably and environmentally. The tram line also connects important transport hubs in Tallinn and supports our goal of developing the Old City Harbour into a well-connected area closely linked to the city,” said Margus Vihman, Commercial Director of the Port of Tallinn.
The new tram line at the Old City Harbour opened to passengers on 1 December 2024, and line no. 2 previously ran on the Kopli–Old City Harbour–Suur-Paala route. The tram connection to the airport was interrupted due to construction work at the Rail Baltica Ülemiste terminal. From 1 August 2026, the Old City Harbour tram line will be extended to the airport.
Two tram lines will serve the airport: T2 Kopli–Vanasadam–Lennujaam and T4 Tondi–Lennujaam. Trams will run between Ülemiste and the airport at approximately ten-minute intervals. From the same day, the letter T will be added to the numbers of all Tallinn tram lines.
